Most people buy bone broth powder, dissolve it in hot water, and drink it as a cup of broth. That's a great start. But it's just the beginning.
Bone broth powder is one of the most versatile ingredients you can keep in your kitchen. Here are seven ways to use it — some obvious, some surprising, all delicious.
1. The classic: a warm morning cup
Dissolve one stick of The Osso in 150–200ml of hot water, stir, and drink it like a tea — first thing in the morning, before coffee. It's a ritual that takes 60 seconds and sets a completely different tone for the day. Warm, grounding, nourishing. No sugar crash, no jitteriness. Just a quiet, steady start.
Why it works: your body is in a fasted state in the morning and absorbs nutrients more efficiently. Glycine and collagen go straight to work.
2. As a base for any soup or sauce
One stick dissolved in hot water gives you an instant broth that's richer, deeper and more nutritious than anything from a supermarket carton. Use it as the base for French onion soup, mushroom risotto, pan sauces, ramen, pho, or lentil soup. The collagen gives the liquid a body and silkiness that water and stock cubes simply can't replicate.
3. Stirred into scrambled eggs
Add half a stick of bone broth powder directly into your eggs before scrambling. It adds a deep savouriness — almost umami — without overpowering the eggs. The result is scrambled eggs that taste like they came from a very good restaurant. It takes five seconds and adds 5g of collagen to your breakfast.
4. Mixed into a smoothie
Bone broth powder is unflavoured and dissolves cleanly. In a blended smoothie, you won't taste it at all. Add one stick to a blender with frozen banana, almond milk, a handful of spinach, and one teaspoon of almond butter. Blend and drink. You've just added 10g of protein and 5g of collagen to your breakfast.
5. To cook your grains
Replace the water with bone broth next time you cook rice, quinoa, or lentils. Dissolve one or two sticks in the cooking water before adding your grains. The grains absorb the broth as they cook, taking on a subtle richness and depth of flavour.
6. As a pre or post-workout drink
The collagen supports joint health, the glycine helps muscle repair, and the minerals replenish what you lose through sweat. Dissolve one stick in hot or warm water and drink it 30 minutes before or after training.
7. In a late-night wind-down drink
Glycine has been shown to improve sleep quality when consumed in the evening. Dissolve one stick in hot water, add a slice of fresh ginger and a squeeze of lemon, and drink it an hour before bed. Warm, slightly savoury, deeply calming.
The rule of thumb
One stick a day is enough to make a difference. The key is consistency — collagen and glycine build up in your system over time, and the benefits become more noticeable after 3 to 4 weeks of daily use.
